Hello & welcome! Thanks so much for stopping by.
My name is Melissa Austin and together with my husband, Don, we are raising our identical twin teenage boys.
I have a full-time career helping those most vulnerable in my community but I’ve always had a passion for writing which sent me on the path to blogging. Most of our friends call me Mama, a nickname that I landed long before even having kids. I love all kinds of music (my Spotify playlists are all over the place), dancing (my ideal girls’ night out is seeing a band and dancing with my closest friends), trivia (I’m a wealth of useless information) and home is my favourite place to be.
Our boys are 15 now and I’ve been the shortest person in our house for a while now…and I love it! I always pictured myself as a “boy mom” and it’s a title I wear proudly. Since our kids are older now, I want to be respectful of their privacy. That means you likely won’t see many pictures of them up close (unless they agree to it). I don’t even plan to use their names in my writing but will instead refer to them as G & B because they probably think I embarrass them enough in real life as it is. (Insert eye roll here)
I look forward to sharing parts of our lives with you and to creating a space that is funny, frank and friendly. As my tagline says, life isn’t always a fairy tale but I am incredibly grateful for the life I live and the family I am fortunate to call mine.
